United Voices: RACE For Success
Respect, Advocacy, Collaboration, Equity
President’s Message
Greetings!
My sincerest appreciation to PNANEF officers and members for their relentless efforts and dedication to this organization. We have achieved significant success in the last year since COVID restrictions have been lifted. Our Christmas party last year offered warm reception to members and their families, visitors, sponsors, and newly arrived nurses from the Philippines; at the same time, the association collected groceries that were donated to UCOMJax. Additionally, four members of PNANEF completed the South-Central Region (SCR) Camp Aruga held in Orlando, FL in January of 2024. Camp Aruga is a PNAA initiative for leadership development and relationship building between chapters. Furthermore, our chapter was the recipient of the Daisy Team Award for Health Equity during the PNAA National Convention in July 2023. PNANEF has a Volunteer Clinic for the qualified uninsured individuals in Northeast FL every first Saturday of the month since 2007. Another award was received during the convention; an increase in membership of 15% or more and one of our EB officers, Jerlyn Domondon, became a fellow of PNAA iLDP, which is an 8-week leadership development initiative for chapter leaders.
To uphold our chapter’s mission, objectives, and the 2022-2024 mantra of RACE for success (Respect, Advocacy, Collaboration, Equity), we are spearheading a Philippine project dubbed as “FUD4Kids and School Backpacks – Bacolod Project” and will commence on January 30, 2024. The project aims to provide backpacks containing school supplies & toiletries and to provide infection control teaching to school children from Grades 1-6. The costs of this project are supported by the funds received from the Nurses Week Picnic in Hannah Park and through the generosity of our chapter members, Filipino Community organizations in Jacksonville, private donors, and businesses. The lists of these donors can be viewed in our Events & News section.
PNAA and PNANEF have tremendous initiatives and programs to help you grow as a nurse professionally in multiple areas, such as leadership, education, entrepreneurship, informatics, and clinical nursing through education and mentorship. As we approach the year of 2024, let us join to make a difference in the life of the people we met.
We welcome you to be a part of PNANEF!
Sincerely,
Jusil Rice MBA, MSN, APRN, ANP-BC
